Like so many young men in Harlem, Miles wants to be a HIP-HOP ARTIST. But a chance encounter with a future nemesis during a rainstorm propels his life in an unexpected direction. Not only does his foe steal his newly repaired horn, but also a ring with special powers that belongs to his Uncle Roland. Aided by his uncle, a jazz journeyman, he embarks on a mystical musical odyssey. Traveling along the Chitlin' Circuit, they traverse time and place to visit jazz heroes, old and new. Miles learns about one of America's great art forms and dreams of furthering his musical education. Yet throughout this upbeat trip through time, his fiendish foe waits for a chance to settle an old score.
BOOK I
Philadelphia is the initial stop along the Chitlin Circuit. It's there that Miles and his Uncle Roland meet the first of a long series of great jazz musicians as they travel back in time. But in order to do that, they need to make sure that they have the necessities. They also need to make sure that they don't wear out their welcome because if they do the past might be their present.

BOOK II
Miles and his Uncle Roland continue on their JassOdyssey, as they travel through the Deep South and Midwest. Along the way, they stop off "where it all began" to find the nemesis that propelled them on their journey. Park and Marie also continue their conquest. Both parties meet jazz musicians as they pursue their separate goals. Miles and Roland finally get a chance to confront their foe, but things don't turn out as expected.
